Sucking up…on a whole new level

Posted in Whatever on November 27, 2007 by Picker

Well, I guess kids these days have lost the fine art of sucking up. In days past, you might butter a teacher, or parent up by making a comment about their hair, or clothes. What you said was never far from the truth. In fact, you might have even really meant it.

Today, I found out that the kids just lie. Bold faced-I don’t want to get in trouble-you better give me a good grade-lie.

I was told that I looked like Justin Timberlake. In case you haven’t seen me lately…I don’t.

Are we really here? Are we at the stage where we say whatever we can to get whatever we want? I guess the world has been there for a while, but it never smacked me in the face like it did today (for 7th Graders at least).  At least it gave me a good laugh though.

*If you’re wondering, she still got the detention.

Praying for Patience

It can be a scary thing.  You never know what’s going to happen when you pray for patience.

Laura and I have set a closing date for Dec. 7th on a house in the same basic area we live in now.  It’s closer to the school I work at, and shortens our drive to church (from 20 min. to 2 min.).  The only hang up to this is that we haven’t sold our current house yet.  It is so frustrating to sell a house.  We keep the house clean, and have it ready to be shown at any given moment.

It has gotten to the point that this is what I think about…it’s almost exclusively what I think about.

So I pray

I’ve always been a little scared to pray for patience because if I really want it, that means I’m going to be pushed, and tested.  It means that things need to happen that require patience.
